Fundamental to the Idaho Federation of Families is a focus on family participation and support. They believe that policies, legislation, funding and service systems must utilize the strengths of families by: - Ensuring that families are equal partners in the planning and implementation of services,
- Viewing the child as a whole person rather than emphasizing the disability,
- Empowering families and children to make decisions about their lives, and
- Encouraging innovative programming that increases options for service.

- Provide leadership to develop and sustain a nationwide network of family-run organizations.
- Focus the passion and cultural diversity of our membership to be a potent force for changing how systems respond to children with mental health needs and their families.
- Help policy-makers, agencies, and providers become more effective in delivering services and supports that foster healthy emotional development for all children.

In Idaho, they provide: - Support through our support groups located across the state.

- Advocacy through work at the local and statewide level for policies that help people with a mental illness live full, productive lives.
