About

Idaho Wednesday’s Child is a specialized recruitment program committed to decreasing the number of young people who ‘age out’ of foster care. The primary goal of the Idaho Wednesday's Child Program is to bridge the gap between the waiting children in our state and families from Idaho as well as those in other states, who wish to adopt from foster care.

“Shannon grew up in a small Northern California rural town before attending college in Redding, California and then in Turlock, California where she met and married her husband, Greg. In Turlock, Shannon and the Administrative Assistant at Aspira Foster Family Agency (now Aspiranet). Greg's job moved the family to Boise in 1999 and in 2004 with four children already in tow, they decided it was time to become foster parents. During their fostering experience from 2004-2018, they adopted five children. In 2011 Shannon finished her multi-disciplinary degree concentrating in Psychology and Family Studies at Boise State University. Along with fostering, Shannon was a Resource Peer Mentor at the launch of the program in 2007 until 2016, a pre-service co-trainer also since 2007, and currently helps coordinate the Idaho Wednesday’s Child Program. Shannon's favorite hobby is spending time with her husband, all of their children and spouses, their two adorable grandbabies, and last but not least, their Great Pyrenees, Max.”

“Shawn grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho and has since lived in areas all throughout the state, including Nampa, Lewiston and beautiful Coeur d’Alene. She now resides in Nampa, with her husband Kevin. Shawn has a Bachelor’s degree from Lewis Clark State College in Social Work and spent the 8 years prior to coming to the Idaho Wednesday’s Child Program as a Child Protection Case Manager with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, working with children in care as well as foster families. Shawn is a mother of 6 amazing grown children and has 8 grandchildren, with another on the way. Shawn loves to spend time with her family and friends boating, fishing, camping and just hanging out. Shawn’s favorite part of her job is getting to be a part of instilling hope in all children that they are loved and wanted and that the family that was meant to be theirs forever is out there waiting.”

Greetings from the Idaho Wednesday’s Child Program! The past several months have found us inundated with new referrals for recruitment services for children from all over the state. Though things have been hectic, we are excited to assist the Department in every way possible in the endeavor of finding adoptive families for children in care. Recent Wednesday’s Child production locations have included an animal rescue farm in Washington; Panic Room Live Escape Room in Coeur d’ alene; the Boise Zoo; the Aquarium of Boise; Wahooz Family Fun Center in Meridian; Circus Trix in Nampa; and Outer Limits Family Fun Zone in Pocatello! Idaho Wednesday’s Child relies on the donation of time, goods and services from area photographers and business owners who help so much in our success and in making special memories for our deserving kids. We would love for all of our followers to share in thanking them by frequenting these gracious businesses who have donated to us, whenever possible. Together we are all making stronger Idaho communities for our children to thrive in and are committed to working tirelessly until the day comes when no child in foster care is without a permanent home!
